Amory – Richard Scott Walker, 40, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016, at Pioneer Hospital, Aberdeen, MS. Born on July 29, 1976, in Amory, MS, he was the son of Rick Walker and the late Beth Marie Wells Walker.
A lifelong resident of Amory, MS, Scott was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1994; he also attended Itawamba Community College. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Amory, MS.
Working in sales, he sold cars with different dealerships before going to work with Scruggs in Tupelo, MS. Scott was known for taking the best care of his customers. Passionate about his work, he would sell himself by building a rapport with them. By always helping customers make the best decisions, he felt a satisfaction of achievement.
His most lasting achievement in life was leading others to Christ. Having a big heart full of love and compassion for his family and friends, Scott was an encourager who saw the best in people. One who never judged others, he put others first, was there for them all the time, and was continuously building them up. With his inviting smile, Scott had the gift of never meeting a stranger. Listening to all kinds of music, Classic Rock was his favorite. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his father, Rick (Libby) Walker, Amory, MS; sister, Kim Walker, Amory, MS; uncles, Bill (Jimmie) Walker, Rock Hill, NC; Dave (Jan) Wells, Olive Branch, MS; Terry (Susan) Wells, Germantown, TN; aunts, Linda Stump, Byhalia, MS; Glenda Curle, Olive Branch, MS; step-brother, Zach Parchman, Jackson, MS; step-sister, Abigail (Taylor) Maddux, Batesville, MS.
In addition to his mother, Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Reed “Jim” and Kathryn “Kitty” Wells; Ernest and Avis Walker; and uncle, Jerry Walker.
His Graveside Service will be at 11 AM, Monday, September 26, 2016, at Jones Chapel Cemetery, Nettleton, MS, with Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. Pallbearers will be Kevin Stump, William Curle, Mike Hood, Justin Walker, Jerry Dale Walker, David Darracott, and Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Gray and Tommy Miller.
Visitation will be from Sunday, 4 - 6 PM and Monday, 10 – 10:40 AM at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, MS. We will leave in procession from the funeral home at 10:45 AM.
