Amory – Sara Pearl Roberts Gilreath, 94, died on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at Trinity Healthcare Center, Columbus. Born on March 24, 1918, in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late Wood Jefferson and Sweet Atkins Roberts.
Mrs. Gilreath was a graduate of Pine Grove School. In 1946, she married Maurice Thomas Gilreath. For many years, she and her husband managed Sherman’s Department Store. In 2003, she retired from Dollar General Stores. Strong in her faith and trust and love for the Lord, Mrs. Gilreath was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church. A very giving and loving lady, she was always optimistic and positive, would help anyone in need, and loved her grandchildren. With work being her hobby, Mrs. Gilreath was a supporter of the American Diabetes Association, enjoyed keeping up with the news and politics, and doing for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Tommy Gilreath (Patricia), Amory; grandchildren, Josh R. Gilreath (Ashlea), Starkville, Adam W. Gilreath (Ashle), Belfast, N. Ireland, and Natalie Gilreath, Amory; and great-grandchildren, Jet and Eva Cate Gilreath, Starkville.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lois Brown and Willa Mae Roberts.
A Graveside Service will be held at 3 PM, Friday, December 7 in Haughton Memorial Park with Bro. Josh Gilreath officiating. Pallbearers will be Ken Randolph, Jake Randolph, Roy Randolph, Bill Kyle, Bill Clements, and Robert Gilreath. Honorary pallbearer will be Adam Gilreath.
Visitation will be from 1:30 – 2:45 PM, Friday at the funeral home. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home at 2:45 PM, Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
