Sara was a graduate of Amory High School Class of 1946. She married Russell Eugene Means in 1947. Together they were blessed with two children. Before becoming a homemaker, Sara worked as a bookkeeper at Gilmore Sanitarium in the 1950’s. Very loving, caring and always there for her family, she was a Proverbs 31 lady as well as a true Southern Belle. Strong in her faith, Sara was a faithful member of First Baptist, Amory, where she loved to sing and was a member of the Grace Sunday school class. Striving to always be a Christian lady, Sara enjoyed reading her Bible and especially reading it with her husband. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren. Having a servant’s heart, Sara was very hospitable and unselfishly gave to those in need and worthy fundraisers. She was very supportive of Veteran organizations.
Sara enjoyed traveling, boating and camping with her family; square dancing with her husband; working puzzles; listening to Henry Mancini on the radio; watching Matlock, Perry Mason and soap operas on television. Sara met with the ladies of her graduated high school class every month and they enjoyed socializing and eating lunch together. Known for being an excellent cook, she was well known for her Angel Food cakes. She was a one of a kind woman. The legacy of wonderful memories will be cherished forever by her family and friends.
