Herbert “Sandy” Wallace Sanderson, 89, passed away on January 6, 2017 at River Place Nursing Center, Amory. Born in Hamilton, AL, on October 25, 1927, he was a son of the late Romey and Rosa Viola Lewis Sanderson.
Herbert attended school in Hamilton and entered into the Army at a young age. He served our country and was a mechanic in the Army. He also furthered his education by obtaining his GED in the Army. He married the love of his life, Yvonne Barnes Sanderson. An entrepreneur, he owned and operated his own business, “Sandy’s TV Repair” where he was a T.V. Repairman. Sandy was of the Church of Christ faith and he was very outgoing person with a great personality. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, his animals and tinkering with mechanical projects. Sandy enjoyed playing pool and playing with different musical instruments. He will be missed dearly by his family.
He is survived by his nieces, Rosa Melton, Winfield, AL; Ruby Cochran, Hamilton, Martha Gann, Hamilton, Joyce Riggan, Hamilton; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Samuel and Daniel Sanderson; sisters, Lillie Lindsey, Minnie Rye, Nellie Jeffreys, and Ollie Riggan.
His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am, Monday, January 9, 2017 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, MS with Bro. Phillips Hathcock officiating. Burial will follow in Beaverton Cemetery, Beaverton, Alabama. Pallbearers will be his friends and family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
