Becker, Miss.—Sam Junior Jones, Sr., 68, died Saturday, March 1, 2014 at his home. Born October 12, 1945 in Monroe County, he was a son of Sammy Joe Jones and Evelyne Maxine Pickle Guzman.
He was self employed working in construction, and he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and would help anyone in need. His hobbies included fishing and watching TV.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes and Bro. Scott Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Oddfellows Rest Cemetery in Aberdeen.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharri Pace of Amory and Crystal Jones of Columbus; one son, Sam Jones (Liz) of Amory; 4 sisters, Dorothy Jones of St. Joe, MO, Mary Easter of Alabama, Sandra Bobo of Amory, and Sherry Jones of Texas; one half-sisters, Judy Pennock, Florence, MS; two brothers, Larry Jones of Amory and Rusty Pickle of Jackson; 9 grandchildren, Michelle, Linda, Mary Jones, Justina Robertson, Macey, Chloe Harper, Chelsey, Megan Gann, and Andrew James; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Linda Kay Jones; half-sister, Brenda Jones; one brother, Richard Allen Sears; and a half-brother, Jimmy Dale Jones.
Pallbearers will be James Brighan, David Billings, Todd Gibbs, Jody Jones, Roger Cornett, and Glenn Gray.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday the funeral home in Amory.
