Nettleton- Ruthie Mae Coplin, 81, died Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo. Born May 13, 1932 she was a daughter of the late Elmon and Lula Terry Gray.
Mrs. Coplin attended Amory School, was employed as a sewing machine operator at area garment plants, and was a member of Independent Church of Lord Jesus Christ. Deeply devoted to God, she enjoyed reading her Bible, playing her guitar and singing. A true Matriarch, she devoted her life to raising her family, especially her grandchildren, one of whom she raised as her own, Eric Coplin. She enjoyed watching and feeding her birds and squirrels, working in her flowers, entertaining during Christmas and other holidays, and making her famous biscuits.
She is survived by daughters, Ruth Ann Duncan (Randy), Nettleton, Kay Alvis (Rodney Roberts), Nettleton, Reine Lacy (Richie), Advance, MO and Mina Jenkins (Sam), Franklin, NC; sons, Amos Coplin, Arma, KS, Don Coplin, Nettleton, Troy Coplin (Carol), Advance, MO; sisters, Arvie Lou and Zada Lou Causey, both of Nettleton; brother, Osvell Gray, Moss Point, MS; 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Ila Jane Coplin; grandson, Christopher Coplin; sisters, Luraine Roberts, Jimmie Morris, Zetty Malone, Ruby Nell Seymore, Ophelia Gray, and Lancy Sue Buckner; brothers, Leander, Junior, Alfred, Charlie, and Zipper Gray.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11am, Saturday, September 7, 2013 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Monaghan and Bro. Sammy Raper officiating. Pallbearers will be Eric Coplin, Tesheenia Holte, Roy Coplin, Lacey Kimble, Gary Alvis, Crystal Lynn Shirrell, Crystal Dawn Coplin, and Aaron Coplin. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-8pm at the funeral home.
