A daughter of the late Paul Britain and Omie Mae Mize Robinson, Ruth was born on June 8, 1949, in Lee County. She was a graduate of Nettleton High School. Ruth was a loving homemaker and had worked as a seamstress in the garment industry in Smithville, as a checker at Jitney Jungle in Amory, and had served as a babysitter for numerous children. Good as gold, she enjoyed Gospel music and watching Bro. John Hagee on television.
A son of the late Charlie Eldon and Mattie Evelyn Chism Estis, Peanut was born on April 23, 1948, in Itawamba County. He attended Smithville High School until being drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam War. Peanut was a mill worker at True Temper Sports, a former Chief of Police for the Town of Smithville, a police officer for the Town of Hatley, he had worked for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, and served as the District 1 Constable of Monroe County. He was a Master Mason. Always jolly and known as a jokester, Peanut enjoyed visiting with his Café buddies at Phil’s Place and Mel’s Diner, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, and listening to Country music. A tough yet very loving man, he could always be found helping others in the community.
They were members of Trace Road Baptist Church. Inseparable and doing everything together, they enjoyed fishing, playing cards and camping. Spending time with their children and spoiling their grandbabies were very important to them.
