Amory – Mrs. Ona Ruth Hester Stanford Enlow, 78, died on Friday, August 27, 2010, at Care Center of Aberdeen. Born on May 7, 1932, in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late James Ruble & Gladys Sanders Hester.
She attended Nettleton High School. Mrs. Enlow worked as a dietician at Beverly Manor and had previously owned and operated a restaurant in Russellville, AL. She was a life-member of the Order of the Eastern Star and enjoyed quilting, cross-stitching and canning. A sassy and outspoken Christian lady, Mrs. Enlow loved her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Glenn (Charlotte) Stanford, Amory; daughter, Brenda (Ronald) Sparks, Alabaster, AL; brother, Noland (Ann) Hester, Amory; sister, Ann (Billy Wayne) Harlow, Amory and Sara (Robert) Nash, Hatley; sister-in-law, Linda Hester, Nettleton; grandchildren, Greg, Jennifer, Kim, Nicole and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Scott, Shaye and Katelin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Bennie R. Stanford and Floy Enlow; son, Wade Stanford; sister, Betty Jo Stanford; and brother, Billy Hester.
A funeral service for Ruth Enlow will be held at 3 PM, Monday at the funeral home with Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David, Dale, Mike, Jonathan and Danny Hester, and Grant Harlow. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Hester and Eugene “Bubba” Moore.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.
