Amory - Ruth Baxter, 85, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Oak Tree Manor, Amory. Formerly of Blue Mountain, Ruth was a daughter of the late Hoyt L. Johnson, Jr., and T. E. Baxter.

Mrs. Baxter was a native of the Blue Mountain Mill Village and resident of Midlothian, TX, and Mooreville, MS. She was a member of Bettaview Hills Church of Christ and Midlothian Church of Christ in Texas. Ruth was a devoted Sunday School teacher, secretary at Bynum Elementary School, and a nurse's aide at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital.

The family would like to thank The Oak Tree Manor Assisted Living in Amory, MS and to Teresa Childers and Staff for their loving care.

Her Funeral Service will be 2 PM, Monday, January 18, 2016, at Bettaview Hills Church of Christ with Rusty Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5 – 8 pm at Gray Brown-Service.

Survivors include her sons, Stephen L. Johnson (Cynthia) and David A. Johnson; step-sons, Tommy Baxter (Sharon) and Keith Baxter (Tammy), grandsons, Rhett Johnson, Corey Johnson and Nelson Johnson; step-granddaughter, Dianna Woodley; great-grandchildren, Lilly Johnson and Eli Johnson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rachael Johnson, and daughter-in-law, Karol Johnson.

Services were under the direction of Gray Brown-Service Mortuary of Anniston and locally by E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory. Locally, memories and condolences may be shared with her family at EEPickleFuneralHome.com
