Becker - Russell J. Tubb, Jr., 78, died on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at his home. Born July 6, 1934 in Monroe County, he was a son of the late Russell Jeptha, Sr. and Grace Hill Tubb.
A graduate of Becker High School, he also received his Associate’s degree from Itawamba Junior College. He married Jean Stanford in 1956; she survives. A man of deep faith, he was a member of the Gregory Chapel Baptist Church. Being a family man, he cherished the time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He farmed, worked for Amory Garment Co. and then retired from Kerr McGee after 32 years in 1995. After his retirement, he worked for the Amory Produce Market. He enjoyed watching Westerns.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Arlis Lee and Bro. Justin Simmons officiating. Burial will be in the Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Brad Stanford, Bobby Cantrell, Jimmy Brown, Danny Stanford, Dennis Pickle, and Larry Seales. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Luke and Alex Tubb and Russ Johnson.
Survivors include his wife 56 years, Jean Stanford Tubb of Becker; one daughter, Teresa Johnson (Jimmy) of Becker; one son, Cliff Tubb (Lisa) of Becker; 4 sisters, Helen Sims (L.C.) of Becker, Patsy Jenkins (Fred) of Houston, Tex., Nancy Mody of Fla., and Bobby Stegall of Amory; one brother, Jerry Tubb of Amory; 6 grandchildren, Luke Tubb (Rhonda), Lori Sloan, Amanda Jones (Brian), Alex Tubb, Lindsey Johnson, and Russ Johnson; 6 great grandchildren, Cameron, Paige, and Harley Tubb, Silas and Shae Sloan, and Ramsey Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Warren Tubb; one daughter, Amanda Dawn Tubb; and brother, Pete Tubb.
Visitation will continue until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
