Amory – Ruby “Mamaw” Williams, 86, died on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at River Place Nursing Center. Born on September 20, 1926, in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late John Alvin and Lottie Mae Strawbridge Cantrell.
Mrs. Williams attended Trace Road Schools and played basketball. On July 7, 1945, she married Cecil H. Williams. Having worked as a seamstress at most of the garment plants in Amory, she retired from Penthouse Furniture. While working, she was a mentor to several, in particular the newly hired people. Mrs. Williams was of the Baptist faith. Very loving and a friend to many, she was hands-on with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Williams enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, find-a-word puzzles, hummingbirds, and Gospel Channel 39.
She is survived by her son, John Richard Williams (Janyce), Becker; sisters, Shirley Martin and Jewel Lyle (Dickie) of Aberdeen; grandchildren, Penny Clay (Alan), Becker, Tammy Brown (David), Amory, and Rusty Williams (Cindy), Amory; great-grandchildren, Josh Brewer, Jessica Brewer, Kara Brown, Kayla Oliver (Jason), Cody Brown, Connor Brown, Kirk Roberts, and Laken Williams; great- great-granddaughter, Jenna Pickle; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Geneva Brown; brothers, Hoyet Cantrell, Joe Cantrell, John Cantrell, Jr., and F. Wayne Cantrell.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, January 29 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Todd officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rusty Williams, Cody Brown, Alan Clay, Garry Sawyer, Robert Lucas, and Larry Chism. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of River Place Nursing Center.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Monday at the funeral home.
