Amory - Mrs. Ruby Irene Tucker, 77, died on Sunday, September 5, 2010, at Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks. Born on October 1, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Leonard Crump & Edith Mae Nanney Sanders.
Mrs. Tucker attended Smithville schools. She worked as a seamstress at Amory Garment for forty-four years. A loving and caring person, she was her mother’s caregiver and also worked at Magnolia Place assisted living. Mrs. Tucker was a member of Trace Road Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was a VBS volunteer. She also taught Sunday school at Gregory Chapel Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, and Gospel music. Her family was very dear to her and she loved to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Having never driven, Mrs. Tucker got her driver’s license at 63.
She is survived by her daughters, Virginia Moore, Hartselle, AL, and Joyce (Don) Mathis, Tupelo; son, Edward Tucker, Golden; sister, Sarah (Wayne) Campbell, Chunky, MS; brother, Jerry (Pearline) Sanders, Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Denise (Scotty) Wallace, Margarette Payne, Jennifer Rye, Stacey Jennings, Johnathan (April) Tucker, and Joshua (Shannon) Tucker; and great-grandchildren, Kathryn, Patrick, and Natalie Wallace, Shelby and Kameron Rye, Aubrey Jennings, Maggie Tucker, Angel and Devin Payne and Leland Scott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Tucker, son, Davis Tucker, twin brother of Edward, and brother, Hulen Sanders.
A funeral service for Ruby Irene Tucker will be held at 1 PM, Friday at the funeral home with Bro. Jamie Stark and Bro. Bobby Joe Poss officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Cemetery. Pallbearers will be men of Trace Road Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Trace Road Baptist Church, 1201 Trace Church Rd., Amory, MS 38821.
