Smithville - Ruby Miller Thompson went to heaven on the morning of Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, MS. She was the daughter of the late James William and Ina Mae Best Miller.
MawMaw Thompson was the sweetest, most soft spoken, kindest lil lady you would ever meet. I will not use fancy words to describe her because that was not her. She was plain and simple. She loved her family and would always say before they left after visiting, “Tell 'em all I love 'em!” Although we did joke with her that she loved "the boys" of the family a lil more. She could make the best "hoe cakes" and vegetable soup of anyone. She grew up in the depression and wasted nothing in her 95 years on this earth. She taught herself to read and loved to read her Bible and talk about the One who died for her. She had said for many years now, shug, I'm ready to go whenever He gets ready for me, and He was ready for her today, November 10, 2015. As my sweet daddy says, “You've already preached your funeral by the life you've lived,” and sweet MawMaw Thompson lived her life for the Lord first and foremost and then her family! What a testimony! She was a member of Trace Road Baptist Church but most of all she was a Christian and follower of Jesus!
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 11, 2015, from 5 – 8 PM at the funeral home.
A Celebration of MawMaw Thompson's life will be Thursday, November 12, 2015, at 1:00 PM at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Jamie Stark and Bro. Bobby Amos officiating. Burial will be in Young Memorial Garden.
Pallbearers are Gary Swan, Jerry Swan, Barry Swan, Abe Begner, and C. J. Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Clinton Thompson and Eugene Haney.
She is survived by her daughters, Delores Waddle (Billy) of Fulton, MS, and Janice Kennedy (Gerald) of Amory, MS; Grandchildren, Missy Minor (Randy), Melody Lacy (Johnny Mack), Crystal Bowden (Jeremy), Brooke Warren (Steven) and Jason Kennedy (Hannah); Great-Grandchildren, Lauren King (Josh), Aaron Scott Minor, Tyler Minor (Stephanie), Hannah Beth Begner (Abe), Aden Jones, Madalyn Minor and Jesse Minor, Lily Kate Warren; Great-great-grandchildren, Aaron Lee Minor, Audrey King and Amelia King; also a host of nieces and nephews.
