Splunge – Ruby Elaine Murphy Gideon, 94, died on Monday, May 21, 2012, at her residence. Born on June 24, 1917, in Splunge, she was a daughter of the late William Clabe and Rosie Lee Chism Murphy.
Mrs. Gideon attended Splunge School and graduated from Greenwood Springs High School, Class of 1935. She married Woodie Creston Gideon on October 22, 1938. Always trying to put God first in her life, Mrs. Gideon was a member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ. A homemaker, she enjoyed flower gardening, working in her yard, talking with her friends, and listening to a’cappella Gospel music.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, May 23 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Mr. Marshall Eubanks, Jr., minister, officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jolly, Terry, and Barry Faulkner; Joe Easter; Jerry Hall; and Chase Surrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Gideon and Brad Starr.
She is survived by her son, Timothy Gideon (Mary Ann), Splunge; grandchildren, Joshua Gideon and Whitney Starr (Brad); great-grandchildren, Drew and Ayden Gideon, and Brannan and Macie Starr and soon-to-be-born Makk Starr; niece and nephews, Brenda Fears, Jolly Faulkner, and Daniel Murphy; several great-nieces and nephews; and several special friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Francis M. Faulkner; and brothers, Homer and Max Murphy.
