Stone Mountain, GA – Ruble Guin Whitlock, 76, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at his residence. Born on October 14, 1939, in Amory, he was a son of the late Ruble Beldon and Ruth Christine Lavell Buchanna Whitlock.

Ruble attended Becker and Amory Schools. While in school, he worked at area service stations. On November 21, 1957, he married the love of his life, Kay Bickerstaff. Briefly living in California, they returned to Amory where he worked for Pullman Couch. In 1972, they moved to Stone Mountain, GA. Having worked with wood since he was 16 and in the furniture industry nearly all of his life, Ruble was a hard worker. He operated Whitlock Enterprise until it burned. One who had a gift for furniture designing, he owned and operated Village Upholstery in Stone Mountain until retiring in 2008.

One who loved life, loved people and was Patriotic, Ruble had a contagious smile, was a great story-teller, and never met a stranger. A generous and very special husband, father and grandfather, he was a Christian of strong faith and loved to read his Bible. He liked to talk about religion and share his philosophy on life. Ruble was a Mason. He was passionate about his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; history; and genealogy. Ruble enjoyed hunting and spending time at the Big R Lodge. An avid softball fan, he loved to watch his children play sports. He enjoyed collecting knives and guns and learning about new technology. Ruble had a gift of given people nicknames that stuck with them for life. His favorite music was Country, Old Gospel, Rock and Roll and Elvis.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Kay Whitlock, Stone Mountain, GA; daughters, Gay (David) Kersh, Stone Mountain, GA, Sandra Nell (Andy) Andrews, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Michelle (Mike Coursey) Crompton, Conyers, GA; son, Charlie Whitlock, Stone Mountain, GA; sisters, Nancy (Ray) McCollum, Fulton, and Mary Dell Springer, Amory; brother, Richard (Nina) Whitlock, Wren; grandchildren, Cory (Corrinne) Kersh, Chris (Susan) Kersh, and Chad Kersh; Tony, Jake, and Jesse Andrews; Clint, Kristina and Nick Crompton; Charlie (Mandy) Whitlock, Jr., and Kimberly Whitlock; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Layla, Olivia, and Lily Kersh; Charlie Whitlock, III, and Amelia Whitlock; Jeremiah Whitlock; several nieces and nephews; numerous cousins and special friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Whitlock; and niece, Kimberly DeShane “Shane” West.

His Funeral will be at 2 PM, Sunday, October 9, 2016, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Justin Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearer will be Ricky Whitlock.

Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.
