Amory - Roy Lee Lindsey, 93, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. Born on September 14, 1924, in Red Bay, Alabama, he was a son of the late John Henry and Ada Bell Lindsey.
Roy belonged to the Freedom Baptist Church. He married Doris Brown who preceded him in death.
Roy proudly served our Country during World War II. He joined the US Navy where he received the rank of Seaman 1st Class. He was a gunner on the U.S.S. Wisconsin.
Roy was employed by Hays Aircraft in Birmingham, AL, and later was a supervisor at True Temper for 21+ years. A man who loved to be outdoors, he enjoyed to garden and be with his dog, Jip. He always enjoyed spending quality time.
Roy Lee Lindsey is survived by his son, Mike Lindsey, Amory; nieces: Joyce Fancher, Nancy Neill, and Bonnie Gray (Phillip); nephews: Charles Lindsey (Pat) and Jerry Lindsey (Brenda); special friends, Perry Nix, Alan Adams, and all of his co-workers at True Temper.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jessie Hamm; 2 brothers: Lenord and Glen Lindsey.
His Funeral Service will be at 2 PM, Thursday, March 29 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. Charles Petty officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park.
Visitation for Mr. Lindsey will be from 12 - 1:50 PM, Thursday, at the funeral home.
