Rose Morgan

January 3, 1940 — June 20, 2023

Rose Morgan

Kathryn Rose Morgan 83 was reunited with her husband and met her savior face to face on Tuesday, June 20,2023. Rose was born January 3, 1940 in Wren Mississippi to the late J.D Gallop and Polly Pigford Gallop.

Rose grew up in Monroe County and attended Wren School and was a member of the last class to graduate in 1957. According to Rose she was “a great basketball player.” Rose married the love of her life Hal Wendle Morgan Jr and they were blessed by God with one son as well as a close family and a host of wonderful friends. Rose was office Manager/ bookkeeper and worked until retirement for local furniture and construction companies.

You always knew where you stood with Rose. She was sassy, and according to her loved ones she could be a little “bossy”, but in a good way. Rose had a servant’s heart and her church family at Meadowood meant the world to her. She enjoyed being a part of 8 Days of Hope, Faithworks, church activities and she helped in the preparations and supervision of hundreds of meals for Christmas and Thanksgiving and other events at Meadowood. She enjoyed cooking and baking for others, especially making her awesome cinnamon rolls. True to her nature of being the one in charge, you could often hear her say “Ya’ll come on”. She enjoyed gospel music, traveling with her family and playing Bridge with close friends.

Rose was a one of a kind woman who served so many people through the years. She will be dearly missed yet her family and friends know that she is at peace in the presence of her Savior.

She is survived by her son Hal Morgan III (Leslie) Amory; grandchild, Jonathan Morgan (Anna), Amory; great-grandchildren, Stella Morgan and Sylvie Morgan, Amory; brothers, Ray Gallop (Sandra) Wren and Jason Gallop; nieces and nephews, Jaye Thompson Manning (Mike), Steve Gallop (Charity), Patrick Gallop (Stephanie), M.J. Gallop; great-nieces and nephews, Mackenzie Gallop, Madison Gallop, Lauren Gallop, Lillian Gallop, Riley Manning (Alyssa), Charlie Manning, Carl Gallop, Faith Gallop and Marisse Claire Vail-Delaney.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hal Morgan Jr., her sister Jean Thompson (Clifton ) and sister in-law, Sherron Gallop.
