Rory Thornton
Amory, Miss.—Rory Lynn Thornton, 53, died on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center in Amory. Born November 23, 1959 in Amory, he was a son of the late Robert Basil and Eunice Mitchell Thornton. He was a graduate of Amory High School and Itawamba Junior College and married Terri Reeves. A member of First Baptist Church in Amory, he cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren. His hobbies included fishing, cooking, and reading.
A Celebration of Life service will be 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. Burial will be in the Haughton Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Terri Reeves Thornton of Amory; two daughters, Blair Thornton of Hattiesburg and Brett Thornton of Amory; one son, Rory Owen Thornton (Jimmie Ann) of Amory; two brothers, Robert Basil Thornton, Jr. of Cedar Rapids, IA and Ronald Hall Thornton of Amory; three grandchildren, Gray Thornton, Jake Thornton, and Sunni Kayt Lindsey; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Al Stephens, Keith Reeves, Brian Reed, Tommy Wilkerson, Ricky Chaney, Danny Coleman, and Casey Hildreth.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening and will continue until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
