Smithville – Ronnie B. Young, 59, died on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks, Verona. Born on July 8, 1951, in Tupelo, he was a son of the late Lila Virginia Leftwitch and Kenneth Benford Young.
Ronnie was a graduate of Tupelo High School. He honorably served his country in the US Army. A man of many skills, he had formerly worked as an ambulance driver for North MS Medical Center and worked as a carpenter, roofer and mechanic. Having a big heart, Ronnie would do anything to help a person. He was of the Baptist faith. Musically talented, Ronnie played several instruments, wrote music and played in the band, Ten Miles High. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and watching television.
He is survived by his caregiver, Peggy Hall, Smithville; son, Kenneth Anthony Young, Tallahassee, FL; brother, Randy (Lana) Young, Saltillo; sister, Hazel Robinson, Sacramento, CA; grandson, Shane Stanley, Tallahassee, FL; and niece, Brenda Jo Robinson, Texas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Mickey Robinson.
A Memorial service will be held at 1 PM, Friday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Daryl, Lonnie and Chris Brown, Shane Roby, Josh Chavis, Bill Hall and Tim Lovelady.
Visitation will be from 11 AM until the service hour on Friday at the funeral home.
