Nettleton – Ronnie Cox, 66, passed away at his residence where he was surrounded by his family on March 12, 2019. Born on October 19, 1952, in Itawamba County, MS, he was a son of the late Eules Y. ‘Baker’ and Annie Phillips Cox.
Ronnie attended Itawamba AHS. Following school, Ronnie initially worked for Pennsylvania Tire, Tupelo and Creative Glass, Tupelo. He then did heavy construction work on the Tenn-Tom Waterway. From there, Ronnie worked for H & J Pools, Shannon, and later Dixie Pool’s, Verona. Ultimately, Ronnie started his own pool company, Ronnie’s Pool Service, Nettleton where he served the public for many years.
A very kind, thoughtful, and compassionate person, Ronnie was a true gentleman. Ronnie accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and grew up Baptist. He met a sweet lady Brenda in the shop located at his home. As their relationship kindled and grew, they fell in love and were married on January 31, 1997. They were blessed by God with four children. Ronnie dearly loved their close family bond and cherished being together with them.
One who loved being outdoors, he enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as raising chickens. Ronnie was a former member of Nettleton Hunting Club for 12 years and was also a former member of Bigbee-Black Cat Club. As a family, they enjoyed all of the trips camping, canoeing, traveling and riding 4-wheelers. Through all these activities, they treasure all their wonderful memories. Ronnie’s favorite music was Old Rock-n-Roll. His family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories he gave them forever.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Hadaway Cox; daughters, Crissy Kyle (Roger), Mooreville; Rhonda Cox, Eggville Community; Rachel Stacy (Adam), Amory; son, Allen Tubb, Nettleton; grandchildren, Lindsey, Reed and Chris Kyle (Becka); Dylan and Kaitlyn Cox; Madelyn and Hunter Stacy; great-grandchildren, Anna Hill; Ben and Canaan Kyle; Emma-Leigh Cox; sisters, Barbara Cox Hill, Franklin, TN; Sharon Cox, Nettleton; brothers, Billy G. Cox (Sandra), Nettleton; Phillip A. Cox, Sr., Mantachie; Olen Dale Cox (Louise), Fulton; Gerald L. Cox (Paula), Nettleton; Thomas M. Cox (Beth), Moshiem, TN; 14 nieces and nephews; and dedicated and special caregivers, Judy Chumney and son, Allen Tubb.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandchildren, Dalton and Hannah Stacy; a brother, Larry Y. Cox; and nephew, Marty G. Cox.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, March 15 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. Chris Mitchell, Bro. Jamie Gillentine and Lynn Hadaway officiating. Burial will follow in New Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allen Tubb; Teddy and Eddie Hadaway; Steve Cox; Phillip White; Mike Hester; Michael Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Richardson and Ronnie’s brothers.
Visitation will be from 5–8 PM, Thursday, at the funeral home.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are requested for Ronnie’s brother, Dale, who has been battling Parkinson’s Disease for numerous years. Donations can be mailed to 427 Dorsey-Evergreen Rd., Fulton, MS 38843.
