Evergreen Community – Romie C. “Buddy” Hinton, 74, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015, at NMMC, Tupelo. Born on August 12, 1940, in Shannon, he was a son of the late Romie Farris and Katherine Irene Archie Hinton.
He was a graduate of Nettleton High School. On February 7, 1964, Romie married Lela Mills. Before retiring as a press operator after 15 years of service from Super Sagless, he had worked at Sears, Air Cap and True Temper. He attended the Church of God of Prophesy in Unity. One who was determined, humorous, and a jokester, Romie dearly loved his family. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, camping, hunting, gardening, woodworking, collecting writing pens and Gospel and Country music.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Lela Hinton, Evergreen; daughter, Regina Hinton, Evergreen; sons, William and Brian Hinton, Evergreen; sisters, Ada Smith (Don), Eggville, Betty Clayton, Greenwood Community, and Ann Hallmark (Terry), Carolina Community; grandchildren, Beth Christian (Casey), Courtney Haynes (Justin), Ami Thomas (Cortney), Jordan Hinton, Austin Hinton, Bobby Frieson, and Lou Ella Pannell; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Katie Christian; Abby and Cooper Haynes; several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Deborah Parker, and brother-in-law, James Clayton.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, January 28 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Curtis Shelton and Bro. Justin Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in New Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donnie, Perry, and D. J. Smith; Roy Hooker; Michael Hendricks; and James Clayton. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Hinton, Bobby Frieson, Terry and Scott Hallmark.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.
