Amory – Roger Franklin Marshall, Sr., 69, died on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Gilmore Memorial RMC. Born on December 19, 1944, in Steele, MO, he was a son of the late Harry and Ruby Barnes Marshall.
Roger was a graduate of Amory High, Class of 1963. A dedicated employee, he had worked as a production manager nearly 50 years with three generations at Palmer Machine Works. Roger owned and operated Marshall Fabricating part-time, working in connection with Nautic Star. He served as Smithville Fire Chief until 1988. On January 28, 1989, he married Judy Kay Bridges Jones. Strong in his faith, he grew up Baptist. Hard-working, loving, self-taught and self-made, Roger was the rock of his family and the glue that held everyone together. Never meeting a stranger, he was passionate about his work, his family and friends. He was a lifetime member of the Welding Association. Roger enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Jones Marshall, Amory; daughter, Heather Tubb (Luke), Amory; sons, Roger Franklin “Frank” Marshall, Jr. (Lisa), Hatley and Kirk Marshall (Cheryl), West Point; step-daughter, Carron Bland (Nick), New Albany; mother of his children, Linda D. Marshall, Smithville; sisters, Libby Gilbert (Stan), Mary Lineman of Fort Worth, TX, and Linda Gail Jaycox, Ohio; brother, Kenny Marshall, Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren, Cole and Kirsten Cooper; Heath Tubb; Camron, Paige and Harley Tubb; Bridget Timms; Raines Franklin Marshall; Brooke Sweeney; Drew, Brody and Grayson Marshall; Wesley Craft; great-grandchild, Carson Cooper; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Glen, Harold, Billy and Jimmy.
A Funeral Service will be held at 4 PM, Friday, September 26, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Ford officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Larry Palmer, Phil Faulkner, Tommy Cole, Robert Boozer, Bobby Cox, Freddie Lindley, Norman Parrish, David Tubbs, Pete Jenkins, Tommy Byars and Jim McCreary. Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Smith and employees of Palmer Machine Works.
Visitation will be from 1 – 3:50 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
