Amory –Roger C Knight, 64, died on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at North MS Medical Center, Tupelo. Born on September 9, 1946, in Smithville, he was a son of the late Jerome and Clister Elizabeth Eastman Knight.
Mr. Knight was a graduate of Smithville High School. He was formerly employed in the furniture industry by Rose Hill in Okolona and Penthouse Industries in Amory prior to his disability. Mr. Knight was a member of Pearce Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He married Barbara West on July 16, 1982 in Monroe County, who survives. Roger was a hard worker and enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed listening to country and classic rock music, and was an avid Alabama football fan.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara West Knight of Amory; sons, Jeffrey A Knight of Corinth, Spencer C Knight of Pontotoc, Michael G Miller of Aberdeen; sisters, Gena Lee Gaddy of Fulton, Alma Faye Summerford (Eulon) ofSmithville and Linda Odom (James) of Amory; grandson, Corey Walls; special friends, Dwight Johnson, Ron Byrd and Dean Blair. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his his daughter, Anita Lynn Walls; his sister, Elaine Gregory and her husband Bill; his brother-in-law, Eulis Gaddy.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro Roger Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Corey Walls, Frank Gaddy, Carl Gaddy, Scott Rollins, Brandon Odom, Keith Summerford, Caleb Summerford and Tommy Renfro. Honorary pallbearer will be Dwight Johnson.
Visitation will be until the service hour at the funeral home.
