Rodney Douglas Stoddard
Amory – Rodney Douglas Stoddard, 73, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at his residence in Amory. Born on December 14, 1947, in Amory, MS, he was the son of the late Roy Stoddard and Velda Addington Stoddard.
Rodney attended Hatley High School and went to work at an early age. He worked at Amory Garment and later went to work at Lane Furniture as a Frame Builder. After 38 years of service, he retired from Lane and began to enjoy retirement. He married the love of her life, Patricia Stoddard, on May 14, 1968 and they were blessed with three children and many grandchildren. He loved the Lord and was a member of the Apostolic Truth Tabernacle Church in Amory. Above all, Rodney loved to spend precious time with his family and grandchildren.
A true outdoorsman, Rodney loved to Deer Hunt and Fish often. Some of his closest friends were Steve Aldridge and Greg Ball. They spent many the days solving the world’s problems while waiting for the big fish or big buck. Rodney liked to listen to Country, Old Time Rock, and Country Gospel Music. He was a stubborn man and a jokester, always getting the last laugh. Through the years many wonderful memories were made with him and they will be cherished forever.
Rodney will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved him.
Left behind to treasure his memories are his daughter, Kristy Comer, Winfield, Al; sons, Richard Stoddard, Amory, Kenneth Stoddard (Susan), Aberdeen; seven grandchildren; brothers, Bobby Stoddard, Amory, Larry Stoddard, Amory; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Southard Stoddard.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Hatley Cemetery, Hatley, MS with Bro. Charles Petty officiating. Burial will follow and the pallbearers will be Steve Aldridge, Shane Dickerson, Charles Tyler, Caleb Robertson, Marty Smith and Andrew Schrock.
