Beach Park, IL – Robert M. Sproul, 89, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016 in Amory, MS. Born on August 23, 1926, in Daykin, Nebraska, he was the son of the late Clyde and Myrtle Sproul.
He grew up in Nebraska and graduated from High School in DeKalb, Illinois. He served in the US Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946. He married Jeanne Marion Houghtby and together they had three children. Robert worked for 25 years at Abbott Labs, and retired in 1991. Robert was an active member and Deacon of the Bonnie Brook Baptist Church. He was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir. He loved spending time with his grandchildren; they were his pride and joy. One of his closest friends was Jeanne Barnstable of Illinois. His faith in God and his family are what gave him the most joy and led him in life. He will be missed dearly by all that knew him.
Survivors include his son, Steven (Donna) Sproul, Smithville, MS; daughter, Dawn Sammartino, Antioch, IL; grandchildren, Chad (Tiana) Sproul , Joshua (Susan) Sproul, Danielle (Joe) Princivalli, Corissa (Todd) Diedrich, and Paul (Amber) Carlson; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Avery, Lincoln, Carter & Cameron Sproul; Lauryn, Natalie, Dylan & Tristan Princivalli.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Sproul; daughter, Joy Sproul Carlson; and son-in-law, Salvatore Sammartino.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 2-3 PM with Memorial Service at 3 PM, at Congdon Funeral Home, Zion, IL. Interment will be private.
