Mooreville – Robert Gene ‘Bobby’ Smith, 78, died October 1, 2011 at Community Hospice in Verona. He was born on February 13, 1933 in Monroe County to the late Elvis and Ruth Manuel Smith.
He lived in Nettleton and the past 20 years in Mooreville. He attended Pine Grove School and graduated from Shannon High School. He married Annette Bowen on January 19, 1952 in Fulton, who survives. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War from 1953-1955. He was employed in construction and at Bassett in Saltillo, retiring in 1997. He was a member of Boguefala Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his cb radio and spending time with his family. His hobbies were outside work in his garden and flower garden.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Bowen Smith; sons, Terry Smith (Kim), Robert Smith, Keith Smith; daughters, Sylvia Conwill (Jimmy), Karen Flemming (Tony), Mitzie McBrayer (Tim), LaWanda Smith (Andy McCarrh); 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hoyle, Herbert, Harold and Baby Boy Smith.
Funeral Services will be 1pm, Monday, October 3, 2011 at the funeral home with Bro David Perry officiating. Burial will be in Boguefala Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joey Smith, Nick Smith, Chris Conwill, Tony Conwill, Jason Grant and Wade Smith.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday, October 2nd from 5-8 pm and continue Monday until time for the service to begin.
