Amory – Robert “Bob” Knight, 72, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at his residence. Born on August 6, 1942, in Moorhead, MS, he was a son of the late Jimmy H. and T. Maurine Bush Knight.
Bob attended Moorhead High School. Moving to Amory 56 years ago, he owned and operated Bob’s Amusement and Knight’s Enterprises. Bob was a member of House of Prayer, where he served as a treasurer. Fiercely loyal, outspoken, fun-loving, and a comedian, his life revolved around his family, work, and church. Bob was passionate about St. Jude, Feed the Children, and World Vision. He enjoyed family gatherings, riding motorcycles with Perry McFarland, singing with Junior Rock and Junior Ausborn in their Gospel group, spending time with Bennie Hill, boating, collecting antique cars, and listening to Classics on FM 95.
Survivors include his daughter, Theresa K. Knight Gann (Ned), Becker; son, Dennis L. Knight (Anita), Amory; sister, Linda Francis (William), Amory; brothers, Jim Knight, Gene Knight (Jill), Don Knight (Barbara), of Tupelo, and Johnny “Bo” Knight (Nancy), Amory; “Maw Knight’s” grandchildren, Amanda Bird (Justin), Shannon Lucis (Tim), Cory Box (Leanne), Tiffany Little (Anthony), Hannah Clark, and Dusty Morris; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Wayne Knight, and a brother, Fred Knight.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, January 27 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Jamie Gillentine and Bro. James Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Tanner Lauderdale, William Francis, Tim Lucis, Fred Borman, Danny Parham, and Brad Crawley. Honorary pallbearers will be Bennie Hill and Perry McFarland.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Monday at the funeral home.
