Amory- Robert Lee Ashcraft, 61, died Monday, January 6, 2014 at Community Hospice in Verona. Born in Aberdeen March 14, 1952 he was a son of Calvin and Mary Helen Gregory Ashcraft. He married Patsy Ashcraft May 6, 1984. He was a 1970 graduate of Amory High School, was a dedicated employee of True Temper Sports for over 42 years and was a member of Gattman Church of God, where he served as a Sunday school teacher. A man who had a big heart and a great man of faith who loved serving the Lord as an Evangelist, he also ministered at Sulligent Church of God and Gospel Lighthouse in West Point. He enjoyed time spent with his family and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Ashcraft, Beaverton, AL; mother, Mary Helen Ashcraft, Amory; daughter, Susan Kessinger (James), Tupelo; sons, David Lee Ashcraft (Teresa), Tuscaloosa, Brad Hill (Angel), Fort Worth, TX; sisters, Joyce, Doris Thompson (David), Mooreville, Kathleen Nealey, TX, Rachel Capel, Becker, Jean Crosby (Bobby), Becker and Dorothy Parish, Becker; brothers, Donnie Garner (Cindy), Wren, Richard Thornton (Melinda), Amory and James Walters (Joan), Becker; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Calvin Ashcraft.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11am, Thursday, January 9, 2014 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Ray Miller, Bro. Billy Ray Adams and Bro. Jerry Allen. Burial will follow in Calvary Church Cemetery. He leaves behind a host of friends that will have the privilege of serving as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 5-8pm.
