Robert M. “Cowboy” Alsup

Amory- Robert M. Alsup, 87, passed away peacefully at his residence in Amory, Mississippi, and began his new glorious life in heaven on March 25, 2024. He was born in Sikeston, Missouri, on May 24, 1936, to the late Rufus and Nona Mae King Alsup.

Robert “Cowboy” grew up in Missouri, in a family with three other siblings. He graduated from Matthews High School, in Matthews, and he attended college in Missouri. He and his family eventually moved to Mississippi in 1965, and he continued to have a close relationship with his family and the friends that he grew up with in Missouri. In 1970, he went to work for True Temper Sports, and he retired there in 1999. He was a Farmer and Cattleman, and there was no place he would rather be then outside getting dirty and working hard. He enjoyed being outdoors and seeing the blessings of the harvest that God had provided him and his family with throughout the years. He was a great provider and amazing father figure to his family.

During his lifetime, he was blessed with two wives, having married his first wife at the age of 21, Carol Janice Parsons Alsup, in 1957. They were blessed with three children, two daughters and a son. They shared many great memories together until she passed in 2010. He then married Betty Sutton Owen Alsup, and they also have had some great times together. Robert was one of a kind, he was a fun and loving Christian man who put God and his family first in his life. He was a member of North Boulevard Christian Church, and he enjoyed being with his church family. He would often tease people to get them to smile and laugh. He enjoyed listening to gospel and old country music. He was always the happiest when he was farming, fishing and bird hunting, and most of all spending time with his family.

Of all the accomplishments in his life, he was proud of his children, and the wonderful family that he was blessed with by God, and even though his family knows that he was ready to be with his Lord and Savior, he is now reunited with all the loved ones gone before him, and he will be missed dearly here on earth.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Sutton Alsup, of Amory; a daughter Carolyn Alsup Logan (Chad), of Amory; a son Robert D. Alsup (Carla), of Amory; grandchildren, Carrie Perrigin (Richard), of Columbus; Matt Turner, of Amory; Justin Logan (Marci) of Decatur, Tx; Ryan M. Alsup, of Amory; and Carolanne Alsup, of Amory; four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Janice Parsons Alsup; a daughter, Pamela Alsup Gordon; a grandson, Nathan Logan; a great- granddaughter, Amber Michelle Hicks-Gordon; one sister and two brothers.
