Amory - Robbie Lou Sanderson Vinson, 78, died on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at Baptist Hospital, Memphis. A native of Cordova, AL, she was a daughter of the late Artie “Bud” and Liddie Lee Rogers Sanderson.
Having a Christ-like spirit of serving others and putting their needs before hers, Mrs. Vinson was a member of Splunge Free Will Baptist Church. She was a retired seamstress from Red Kap. A wonderful and loving mother, her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were most important to her. Having lived in Amory 46 years, she enjoyed working in her yard, taking in stray animals, and listening to Country, Gospel and Bluegrass music. Mrs. Vinson was a supporter of Jewish Christian ministries.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Wade Vinson, Amory; daughters, Judy (Mike) Vandiver and Lynn (Rusty) Murphree, all of Amory; sons, Danny (Dawn) Gazaway, Morehead, KY, Mark (Betty) Gazaway, Hamilton and Roger (Lisa) Gazaway, Amory; grandchildren, Nathan, Matthew, Anthony, Cody and Kristy Gazaway; Lacy Murphy; Missy Riley; Micky Vandiver; Nina and Will Anders; and Aubra and Candra Savage; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Cally, Braydon and Ethan Gazaway; Jessica Riley; Henry, Brianna, Lulu, Alex and Andy Anders; Haley Ricks; and Cloey, Travis and Kiya Savage; twin great-great-grandchildren, Alexes and Camren Threadgill; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Renea Gazaway, Virginia Murphree, Ruth Hicks and Emogene Knight. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Randall Gazaway; sister, Betty Kendrick; and brothers, Connie and Lowell Sanderson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Dale Ford officiating. Burial will follow in Lann Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nathan, Anthony, Matthew and Cody Gazaway; Henry Anders; and Wayne, Bill and Mike Sanderson.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Amory Humane Society, 1317 Old Hwy. 6, Amory, MS 38821 or to the Salvation Army, 527 Carnation St., Tupelo, MS 38804.
