Smithville - Rickey L. Beck, 60, died Saturday, February 13, 2016 at his residence in Smithville. Born in Gideon, Missouri, on January 16, 1956 he was the son of the late Henry and Mary Alvina Dean Beck.
Ricky graduated from High School in Missouri and attended some college courses afterwards. On April 5, 1974, he married his sweetheart, Mary Jane Beck. He served in the United States Air Force for thirteen years from 1974 through 1987. From 1979-1981, he was stationed in RAF Upper Hayford, England. After leaving the Air Force in 1987, he worked base contracts in New Mexico and was transferred to Columbus in 1993. He was later employed for 6 years with Dyncorp, Sprint Boats/Nautic Star and retired in 2000.
Ricky was passionate about serving the Lord and enjoying his family to the fullest. He was a member of Life Point Church. He was one who never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He could socialize with anyone and everyone at anytime. He was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed listening to the oldies but goodies, Country music (especially Conway Twitty singing Happy Birthday Darling) and old time rock and roll. He was an animal lover who took in many stray dogs and adopted them as his own. He loved to play cards, to fish, and share meals with family and his closest friends, Del Oldham, Leon Chausse, Leroy Meadows and E.T. Knight.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane; daughter, Brandy Lynn Beck (James Smith), Greely, Co; two sons, Ricky Layne Beck II and Shane Lee Beck (Dawn) of Smithville; sisters, Beverly Pace, Janice Braden (Tony) and Lesa Farris (Chris), all of Missouri; brothers, Greg, Randy (Brenda), Jimmy (Teri), and Kenny Beck all of Missouri; sister-in-law, Sherry Beck; grandchildren, Stoney Lee, Savannah Marie, and Ethan Layne Beck; Zackery Kaleb Pope and Katie Ann Smith; great-grandchild, Alyssia Ashtrid Beck; one special niece, Ashlyn ”Bug” Fry; and many other nieces and nephews.
Mr. Beck was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Pam Beck; a brother, Rayburn Allen Beck; a brother-in-law, James Pace.
