Amory – Rick Keyes, 56, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015, at his residence. Born on March 2, 1959, in Laurel, he was a son of Bobbie Jewel Hosey Keyes and the late Edsel Bill Keyes.
Rick attended Bay Springs schools, graduated from Taylorsville High School, Class of 1977, and later attended ICC. In 1983, he moved to Amory to work for Halliburton and was recognized for his service with a “Million Mile Belt and Buckle.” From there, Rick worked as a shipping manager in the area furniture industry and later drove a truck for Doug Estes in Columbus. He worked at the Maintenance Director for Bigbee Transportation in Columbus and left to follow his passion for long-haul driving by joining Modular in Columbus. Very loyal, Rick’s jobs were important to him. One who read his Bible daily, he was a member of Meadowood Baptist Church. Giving, unselfish, and humble man, Rick loved his family and was always helping others. Fun-loving and hardworking, he was a great father, “Papa,” and husband who enjoyed mowing his yard and piddling in his shop. Enjoying a variety of music, Rick loved Christmas music and enjoyed listening to Classic Rock and Roll, Gospel, Old Timey Radio programs, symphony music, and Christian broadcasts by Dr. David Jeremiah and Dr. Tony Evans.
