Richard G. Pearson

Wren – Richard Gerald Pearson, 74, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at his residence. Born on November 2, 1942, in Monroe County, he was a son of the late Clyde Gerald and Lottie Belle Harlow Pearson.

Richard was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1960. On December 20, 1961, he married the love-of-his-life, Jo Swan. Together, they were blessed with two children, Jeffrey and Jennifer. Richard served his Country proudly, being part of the US Army National Guard. Working in the construction industry, Richard began working with C&F Construction. He was a great provider and he eventually retired in 2008 as a supervisor, with Eutaw Construction, where he oversaw the gravel pit in Hamilton.

He was a member of Central Grove Baptist Church and he loved the Lord. He had served on the Property and Equipment committee as well as cooked for Men’s Brotherhood. A one-of-a-kind gentlemen, he was outspoken and there was no doubt where he stood on issues. Generous and always helping people, he was passionate about cooking and serving in many capacities at the annual fish fry for Wren VFD. He loved fellowship of family and friends as he cooked and inviting family and friends over often to eat. Richard enjoyed working in his shop; gardening; watching NASCAR and cheering for Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He enjoyed watching any MSU sporting event. His memories will live on and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Jo Pearson, Wren; daughter, Jennifer Frantz (Kenneth), Wren; son, Jeffrey Pearson (Nita), Amory; grandchildren, Brock and Bo Balducci; Sam, Belle and Tori Frantz; SPC Austin Pearson, US Army; Austin, Rusty and Luke Moore; great-grandchildren, Emma, Noah, Audi and Olivia Moore; Carlie Kenamore; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, David Lee Carter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Herbert W. and Billy Wayne Pearson.

His Funeral Service will be at 2 PM, Saturday, April 1 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Pastor Dennis Smithey officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be David Lee Carter, Alvin Small, Mike Pearson, Ben Harlow; Freddie and Teddy Thompson; Jeff and Tim Pearson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Harlow, Larry Wade Williams, Alston Parker, Joe Fannin, Kevin Pace.

Visitation will be from 11 – 1:45 PM, Saturday, at the funeral home.
