Amory – Rheba Guy McCartney, 81, died on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Oak Tree Plantation. Born on November 7, 1930, in Winters, TX, she was the daughter of the late William Buford and Jewell Arlene Powers Guy.
Mrs. McCartney worked as a receptionist for several doctors and dentists. Guided in life by her faith, she was a member of Meadowood Baptist Church. Always happy and thinking of others first, Mrs. McCartney enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking, and listening to Gospel music.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, January 12 at Abilene Funeral Home, Abilene, TX. Burial will be in Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Abilene.
Survivors include her husband, Curtis E. McCartney, Amory; daughter, Arlena McCartney Stevens (Steve), Amory; sisters, Dorothy Fay Minor, Abilene, and Lela Mae Adcock, Odessa, TX; granddaughter, LuAnn Stevens Green, Abilene; great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Ann Green; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Ila Mae Guy; sisters, Ouida Guy, Lydia McHugh, Eara Lee Trusdell, and Gwendolyn Bosch; brothers, H. M. Guy, Forrest Guy, J. B. Guy, William B. Guy, M. L. Guy, Doyle Guy, L. C. Bailey, and Dutch Briley.
Memorial may be given to Community Hospice, PO Box 333, Sherman, MS 38869.
