Renetta Thompson
Amory, Miss.—Renetta Lois Thompson, 87, died in Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the Oak Tree Plantation in Amory. Born June 16, 1926 in Marion County, Alabama, she was a daughter of Belton E. and Ella Scogin Thompson. She attended Splunge Schools and was a graduate of Smithville High School. She lived in Amory since 1958 and worked for Dr. John Murphree for 4 years and graduated from LPN school in 1969 working for the Aberdeen-Monroe County Hospital retiring in 2000 after 31 years. A devoted nurse, she loved helping her family, neighbors, and friends during times of sickness. Her hobbies included yard work, camping, fishing, her dog, and her small fish pool in her yard.
A Celebration of Life graveside service will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the Haughton Memorial Park in Amory with Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Davis (Lance) of Amory; one son, Gary Thompson (Patti) of Cody, WY; 5 grandchildren, Lauren, Collin, and Victoria Thompson, and Megan and Jarrett Davis; and one great grandchild, Jacelyn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Nettie Camp; and 4 brothers, Elmer, Delmo, Elvin, and Edison Thompson.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday evening and will continue until 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
