Rebecca "Becky" Morrow

Rebecca Jolly Morrow, 79, of Smithville, Mississippi, went to be with her savior on January 28th, 2024.
She was born in Okolona, Mississippi on November 24, 1944 to Hal Tucker Jolly JR. and Rubye Jolly.

Throughout her childhood, Becky was surrounded by her father’s beloved horses and would often listen to her father tell his legendary stories and poems. Becky attended Okolona High School before studying elementary education at Mississippi University for Women.

Becky met and later married the love of their life, Bill Jefferson Morrow in December of 1969. Becky and Bill couldn’t wait to start a family of their own, and their children, Leigh and Mark were the lights of their lives. Leigh met and married Ben Buchanan and now lives in Saltillo. Mark met and married Heather Smith and they currently live in the Turon community on the farm where Bill and Becky lived until 2008. Although their children meant the world to them, Becky’s favorite role was that of “Nana”. She treasured her time with her grandkids and loved being a Nana to Mark and Heather’s children: Matt Morrow and Halle Cox, and Leigh and Ben’s children: Beau and Brock Buchanan. Over the last few years, she could often be seen rocking one of her treasured great -grandchildren: Harper, Lydia, or Fletcher Morrow, or Molly Cox.

Becky was passionate about her role as a teacher and served as an educator for over forty years as her husband, Bill, built much of what the citizens of their beloved Smithville call home. Becky was an active member of Smithville Methodist Church, devoting her time and energy to women’s bible study and playing the piano every Sunday for her congregation for over fifty years.

Becky enjoyed spending time with her wonderful friends, Jacquline Hathock, Kathleen Davis, and Phyllis Prestridge whom she met while living in Smithville.

Becky will always be remembered for her kind and generous spirit and the way that she always put others before herself. We couldn’t have asked for a better mother, Nana, or friend, and will miss Becky every day.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her

Her Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 11:00 am at Smithville Methodist Church, Smithville, MS with Bro. Jim Mc Clurkan and Bro. Sammy Washburn officiating. Burial will follow at Young Memorial Gardens with pallbearers being Mark Morrow, Matt Morrow, Ben Buchanan, Beau Buchanan, Brock Buchanan, and Caleb Cox.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church in Smithville, MS from 9:00 am until the service hour at 11:00 am.
