Smithville – Raymond Ollie Tucker, 76, died on Friday, June 8, 2012, at his residence. Born on July 4, 1935, in Smithville, he was a son of the late Maude Grace Hadaway and James Gaither Tucker, Sr.
Mr. Tucker attended schools in Smithville and Becker. On April 22, 1961, he married Shirley Jean Capps. Prior to retiring from Fabri-Valve, he had worked at Walker Manufacturing. After he retired, Mr. Tucker worked for Amwood Products part-time. He was a former member of the US Army National Guard. A man of few words, Mr. Tucker enjoyed the peacefulness of walking in the woods on his property, hunting and fishing, reading, watching old movies, traveling, and listening to Classic Country.
He is survived by his daughters, Janice Marie Boyd (Steve), Claremont, FL, Debbie Kay Gharst (Kirk), Panama City, FL, Rita Raper (David), Smithville, and Karen Hamilton, Smithville; son, Raymond Tucker (Sherry), Bigbee; sisters, Violet Sizemore, Amory and Sue Giuliani, Smithville; grandchildren, Jamie, Eric, Jonathan, Jessica, Misty, Dusty, Bethany, Brandy, David, Bryan, Kala, Shaun, and Jason; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Tucker; sister, Gracie Tucker; and brother, James Tucker, Jr.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM, Monday, June 11 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in Young Memorial Garden. Pallbearers will be David Raper, Jr., James “Killer” Capps, Jr., Rick, Sonny, and Nathan Sizemore, and Jason Flippo.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.
