Raymond “Bear” Harold Hendrix

Nettleton – Raymond "Bear" Harold Hendrix, 84, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at West Point Community Hospice, West Point. Born on June 7, 1930, in Port Arthur, Texas, he was the son of the late Sidney and Ottie May Ward Hendrix.

He served in the United States Air Force as a First Lieutenant. After his honorable discharge, he attended college at Southern Mississippi University where he majored in Physical Education. He served as a law enforcement officer in Hattiesburg and Laurel for 33 years. His favorite hobbies included watching television, fishing,and spending time with his dog Molly. He was of the Catholic Faith.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Jean Hendrix, Nettleton; daughters, Catherine Chiasson (Julian), Poplarville, MS, Dianne Kitchens (Scott), Nettleton, MS, Kelly Brewer(Robert), Raymond, MS; son, David Knotts (Wendy), Moselle, MS; Grandchildren, Scott Kitchens, Victoria Swindle, Daniel Kitchens, Jessica Willis, Lee Brooks, Kayle Johnson, Danyelle Lunsford, Chase Lunsford, Lauren Knotts, and Emma Rose Knotts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Saturday, March 7, 2015, at EE Pickle Funeral Home, Amory.
