Boerne, TX - Ray Miller left this earth on May 20, 2017. He was born on May 23, 1943 in Amory, Mississippi. After high school, Ray joined the Marine Corps under the Buddy Program and was in the Corps from 1962 to 1964. He served a tour of duty at the Bay of Pigs and two tours in Vietnam.
As a licensed Chemical Dependence Counselor, he was in and around addiction recovery for 33 years and helped many, many people. He was a gentle soul who liked to say he was “never far from the laughter”. After retirement, Ray was able to spend more time pursuing his hobby and passion for his artwork, which he was always willing to share with his friends.
Ray is survived by his wife, Debbie Miller; son, William Ray (Tad) Miller II; daughter-in-law, Andi Miller; grandchildren, Tessa Jane Miller, Theo Kenneth (Spike) Miller; mother-in-law, Bobby Turner; siblings, Don Miller, Lee Miller (Dorinda) and Nan Miller; nieces and nephews, Hugh Miller, Rusty Miller, Megan Miller, Marc Woods, Krishna Woods and Ishmale Woods; grand-nephew, Brandon Elliott.
A celebration of Ray’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 24, at 6:00 PM at Spring Creek United Methodist Church, 28970 Old Fredericksburg Road, Boerne, Texas 78015.
