Nettleton – Terry Randle “Randy” Jarrett, 68, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. He was born on January 21, 1954, in New Albany, MS, to the late Marvin Preston Jarrett and Mary Elizabeth Kidd Jarrett.
Randy grew up in Union County and graduated from Ingomar High School in 1972. He also attended Northeast Community College before transferring to the University of Mississippi where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice in 1974. Randy initially worked for the railroad in Mobile Alabama where he was employed as a special detective. With his heart being in Mississippi, he returned to Ingomar to farm and eventually took a job at True Temper Sports. Randy was a great provider for his family and worked for 30 years at True Temper before retiring in 2016.
A dedicated husband and loving father, Randy was blessed by God with a large blended family with seven children. He married his best friend, Sherron Ann Oliver on March 17, 2005. Randy was a proud Pappy to his 15 grandchildren and he had a quiet strength and unwavering love for his family. Having been through both highs and lows in life, Randy was always patient and kind, being the loyal strong man you would want by your side. He believed in God and was of the Baptist faith. Randy was a man of few words and he always endeavored to leave the world a better place than he found it.
In his down time, Randy loved to spend quality time on his porches, outside enjoying God’s peace and tranquility. Whether it was with his wife by his side drinking coffee every morning or just soaking in the sounds of the gentle rain falling, Randy had a great appreciation for being outside. He liked to fish with his friends, ride in his side by side, or watch his dogs play in the yard. Randy was a farmer through and through with a green thumb. Oftentimes, while driving down the road he would admire the different gardens grown in his community. He enjoyed listening to Blue Grass Music, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Travis Tritt, and Tyler Childers. He had a great appreciation for Marvel movies, Rango, Ice Age movies and Christmas Vacation.
Randy enjoyed people, was a kind soul, and his family and friends call themselves blessed to have been a part of his life. He will be missed so much yet they know that he is at peace. The legacy of strong love he left will be carried on with his children and grandchildren.
