– Randy Lake “Burly” Burlison, 47, died on Monday, December 12, 2011, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 20, 1964, in Amory, he was a son of Brenda Hathcock Burlison and the late James Edward Burlison. Burly attended Hatley High School and worked in the local pants and furniture factories. He was a member of New Hope Church of Christ. A free spirit with a dry sense of humor, Burly looked forward to spending time with his friends. With the freedom of being outdoors, Randy relished going for rides on his motorcycle or in his truck. Fiercely loyal to his family and friends, his tough-as-nails demeanor gave him the strength to fight his battle with cancer. Burly enjoyed Old Rock n’ Roll, the Oldies but Goodies, and Old Country music; NASCAR, watching football, and talking on his CB radio.He is survived by his mother, Brenda Burlison, Amory; grandmother, Marie Burlison, Amory; sisters, Teresa Hugya and Tonia Elam, of Amory, and Leah Walters (Neil), Virginia Beach, VA; nieces and nephew, Chanda Vallarian (Steven), Tupelo, Tanner Elam, Amory, and Megan Walters, Virginia Beach, VA.In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dueward and Bertha Hathcock and Reno Burlison.A Graveside Service will be held at 3 PM, Friday, December 16 at New Hope Cemetery with Mr. David Highland officiating.
