Crystal River – A Memorial Service for Ramona is set for 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 19 at 11:00. The service will be held at Bible Baptist Church at Crystal River, Florida.
Ramona Mitchell Stanford, 54, left this earth too early on November 6, 2022. She was born on April 22, 1968, in Amory, MS to Earnest G. Mitchell and Willistine Pavlick Mitchell.
Ramona grew up in Monroe County and was a graduate of Hatley High School and later attended ICC where she received numerous awards including Most Beautiful and US Achievement Academy Certification. At age 20, she married her best friend, Toby Stanford and together they were blessed with three children and seven grandchildren. She was a helpmate and great supporter of her family. Ramona worked for 25 years as a Secretary for Citrus County School System, with most of her work being done at Crystal River Middle School.
She was a kind, loving, and friendly woman who was selfless, always putting others first. Ramona touched so many lives during her employment at the schools and her faith was lived out in her daily walk. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Crystal River and she really enjoyed listening to Gospel music. Ramona loved her husband and children dearly and she was proud of the fine young adults they had become. Jokingly, she would often instruct them “You only have one set of teeth, you had better take care of them.” She was also especially close to her parents and would often travel to be with them on quick visits. An encourager, Ramona would always say “It will be ok, the sun will come up in the morning.” She was faithful, a fighter, and always there for those in need.
In her downtime, she liked to visit or spend time with some of her closest friends including Katrina Riggs, Anna Baker, Stephanie Moffett, Lisa Carter, Julie Coffee, Inge Frederick, Jennifer Rollison, and the late Karen Reynolds. The fellowship she had with her friends and family meant the world to her. Her escape was often into the beautiful outdoors, in the sunshine, where she could soak up the rays and feel the warmth of God’s amazing creation. In addition to going to the beach, she liked to go shopping.
An outgoing woman who never met a stranger, she loved the Lord to the fullest. She enjoyed being in the sun but there is no doubt she is in the presence of His Son, Jesus. Ramona will never be forgotten and all the great memories made with her will be cherished forever.
Left behind to treasure her memories are her loving husband, Toby Stanford, Crystal River; parents, Earnest and Willistine Mitchell; son, Josh Stanford (Casey), Moultrie, Georgia; daughters, Kari Cravens (Bryan), Port St. Lucie, FL, and Rebecca Sutton (Jeremy), Citrus Springs, FL; grandchildren, Andrew, Cole, Sarah Stanford, Easton and Cayson Sutton; Brayden and Addison Cravens; a special aunt, Joeann Vaughn, Hatley, MS; a host of nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lula Mae Mitchell, Jewerldean and Joseph Pavlick.
Funeral Services for Ramona will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022, at 10:30 am, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, MS with Bro. Rodney Waycaster and Bro. Jacob Rutledge officiating.
