Smithville- Phyllis Anne Boozer, 69, died Thursday, November 7, 2013 at North Mississippi Medical Center. Born May 22, 1944 in Memphis, she was the daughter of Erbie Dale and Travis Carpenter Cox.
Mrs. Boozer was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1962 and retired as a shipping clerk from Amory Garment. A Christian lady, she was totally devoted to her children and grandchildren and cooked Sunday lunch every week for them. She cherished spending time with her great granddaughter, Bella, teaching her songs, reading to her and taking their morning walks to check the mail. Apart from her family, she enjoyed crafts and decorating, garden and yard work, shopping, reading and was an avid MSU fan to say the least.
She is survived by her daughters, Shelly Cox Massey, Smithville and Dana Cox (Jerry Self), Red Bay, AL; son, Tony Boozer; brother, Jimmy Dale Cox (Pat), Ada, OK; grandchildren, Morgan Cox, Zack Massey (Stephanie) and great granddaughter, Bella Grace Massey; nieces, Angie Cox Smith and her sister Lacey.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4pm, Sunday, November 10, 2013 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home. Family and friends will share their remembrances of Phyllis during the service.
Visitation will be prior to the service on Sunday from 2pm-3:45pm.
