Smithville - Peggy G. White, 70, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at the Meadows Nursing Home in Fulton. Born on May 12, 1946, in Amory, MS, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Ruby Vick Vaughan.
She attended Smithville Schools and was a lifelong member of Trace Road Baptist Church. Retiring in 2012, Peggy was a laundress for many years at the Meadows.
To describe Peggy, one would say that she never met a stranger, was witty, comical and loved to make people laugh. In her spare time, she would listen to Country music, especially Conway Twitty. Having a heart of compassion, Peggy also enjoyed visiting the shut-ins when she could.
Family was most important to Peggy. She loved her grandchildren unconditionally and will be missed by each one.
She is survived by her daughter, Angie Thompson (Mark), Smithville; a son, Anthony White, Amory; grandchildren, Trey Thompson (Cally);Brady Thompson; Ty, Lexi and Eli White; sisters, Clara Lindsey, Amory; Evell Peters, Brewer; Saundra Sue Hankins, Mooreville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Vaughan.
Her graveside service will be at 4 PM, Monday, April 17 at Young Memorial Gardens in Smithville with Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes officiating. Pallbearers will be Trey Thompson, Brady Thompson, Ty White, Eli White, Rexal Peters and Richard McCain. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff and employees of The Meadows.
Visitation will be from 2 – 3:40 PM, Monday, the Smithville Chapel of E.E. Pickle Funeral Home.
