Amory – Peggy Ann West Berry, 69, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016, at her residence. Born on April 15, 1947, Dothan, AL, she was the daughter of the late Grady H. West and Mary Ella Fleming Jackson.
Peggy attended Aberdeen schools. She married Warner D. “Butch” Berry on April 24, 1964, in Hamilton. A very familiar face at Hatley School, Peggy worked as a Lunch Lady for several years. Growing up in the Baptist faith, she was a member of Grace Fellowship. Family was her world and her pride and joy. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. A sweet lady who possessed a contagious smile, Peggy never met a stranger. An excellent cook, she made the best hamburgers in the world and loved spaghetti.
Living life to the fullest, Peggy loved to travel, watching and feeding her birds, and loved candy. A die-hard Atlanta Braves fan, she enjoyed going to games as well as bringing home Georgia cantaloupes. Peggy was a devoted Elvis fan and enjoyed listening to him sing.
Survivors include her daughters, Louise Gregory (Ricky), Lisa Towery (Keith), and Melinda Pickle (Dewayne), all of Smithville; grandchildren, Emjaii Gregory and Austin Gregory (Caitie); Jesse Sanderson (Emily); Nathan Pickle (Jessica) and Zoie Pickle; great-grandchildren, Kylei and Colton Gregory; Adam and Caylie Blake Harmon; Jayla, Jaycee and Emery McCollum; sisters and brothers, Agnes Koeppe (Fred), South Carolina; Hazel Luper (Joe), Arkansas; and Maggie McDowell (Roger), Alice Jackson (Ronnie), Bobby Jackson (Elaine), Larry Jackson (Ruth), Earnest Jackson (Donna), all from Georgia; host of nieces and nephews; many special friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 44 years, Butch; and two brothers, Jimmy West and David Jackson.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, September 5, 2016, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. Danny Burks officiating. Burial will be in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brandon Berry, Van Rogers, Timmy Pickle, Mack Webb, Ronnie McMickle, and Jearl Ratliff. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.
