Oxford – Pauline “Polly” Harris Bobitt, 87, died on Sunday, December 12, 2010, at Graceland Nursing Home, Oxford. Born in Alabama, on September 25, 1923, she was a daughter of the late John & Lula Belle Simmons Harris.
A focused, determined and fun-loving lady, Mrs. Bobitt was a homemaker. Having lived in Oxford since 1986, she was a member of First Baptist Church, Oxford. As a pastor’s wife, she was always very active in various church activities. Her grandchildren were very her pride and joy. Mrs. Bobitt enjoyed needlework, working in the yard and loved her Pomeranians and cat.
She is survived by a daughter, Beverly (Thomas) Randle, Oxford; six grandchildren , four great-grandchildren and her special friend and caregiver Mrs. Robert (Edra) Kennedy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bro. Detroy Bobitt; son, Douglas Bobitt; grandson, Robert Troy Randle; and seven brothers.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Jack Maroon officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Wayne and Wade Weatherbee, W. H. Gregory, Earl Wayne Cowley, Tommy Ford and Jerry Frederick.
Visitation will be from 11:30 AM until the service hour at the funeral home on Wednesday.
