Amory – Paul H. McFarling, 57, died on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at Baptist East Memorial Hospital, Memphis. Born on October 21, 1954, in Mobile, AL, he was a son of Grace Hodges McFarling the late Mac McFarling.
Paul was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1972. He was a graduate of ICC, of Metal Trade School, Hamilton, AL, and received his teaching certificate from Mississippi State University. On January 17, 1975, Paul married his high school sweetheart, Judy Herring. A Godly man, he was a member of Becker Baptist Church. A Vo-Tec teacher at Amory High School for nine years, Paul began McFarling Machine Works and Welding in 1984, while still teaching school. His family remembers him for his generosity to other and for being the perfect family man. Paul enjoyed going to Smith Lake, boating, watching softball, playing on his Bobcat with his dog, and music from the 1960’s and 1970’s.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Judy McFarling, Amory; mother, Grace H. McFarling, Amory; daughter, Keri McFarling Pickle (Josh), Amory; son, Bart McFarling (Jill), Missoula, MT; sister, Sara Cork, Northport, AL; granddaughter, Asher Grace Pickle; and nephews, Jason O’Connor (Christina), Jake O’Connor, and Josh Tubb.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, August 4 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason O’Connor, Austin Capps, Steven Reeves, Josh Tubb, David Smith, Alex Jones, and Trip Richmond. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Forrester and Jake O’Connor.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
