Ouida Ruth Moore

Amory - Ouida Ruth Magee Moore, 93, died Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Gilmore Hospital, in Amory. Born on December 24, 1921, in Yalobusha County, MS, she was a daughter of the late Ouida Pritchard Magee and Van Clifton Magee.

A 1939 graduate of South Side High School in Memphis, she married B.O. Moore in October of 1941. They were married for just shy of 68 years. Ouida worked as a telephone operator while Bo attended UT medical school in Memphis before they made Amory their home in 1949.

Ouida devoted her life to family and friends. Renowned throughout the community as an exemplary homemaker, every day she cooked three meals, read two newspapers cover to cover, and collected poignant clippings for family, friends, neighbors, and acquaintances. The arrival of a manila envelope from Ouida always signaled her genuine love and thoughtfulness for those around her.

She is survived by son, Gregg Moore (Cheryl) of Wren, MS, and daughter, Alida Moore of Tupelo; a sister, Dorothy Yager of Memphis, TN; three grandchildren, Shellie Lowden (Ken) of Ooltewah, TN, David Moore (Kimberly) of Wren, MS, and Catherine Moore of Atlanta; and four great-grandchildren, Olivia Lowden, Nolan Lowden, Harrison Moore, and Susanna Moore; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Van Pritchard Magee and a sister, Sarah Givens.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Mr. Philip Hathcock officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery.
