Otis Statham, Jr. was greeted in heaven by his parents, Otis Statham, Sr. and Alice Statham of Bogalousa, La. and his beloved and loyal pet, Ebony on Wednesday, June 3, 2015. He was 84.
A member of First United Methodist Church of Amory, Ms. and a graduate of LSU, Otis was a man of many talents, whose life led him from playing football and baseball, to the U.S. Air Force and into a career in engineering. He was a retired employee of Midland Container of Flowood. He was known for his vast intelligence, witty humor and quickness to offer his support and wisdom to those in need. The importance of his family was evident in all he did. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to his at home caregivers, who were constantly joining in on his jokes.
Survivors include his wife, Kathi Keen Statham of Vicksburg; a brother, Charles “Sonny” Statham, a sister, June Rayburn; three sons, Otis Statham, III, Christopher Statham, Mike Statham; a daughter, Danielle Keen Worley; 11 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph Caruthers officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the hour of service. Pallbearers will be Mackie Keller, Brandon Vanderford, Dusty Keen, Wilson Hyland, John Watson, Charles “Chuck” Statham, II. Honorary pallbearers will be Arminie Boggan, Tammy Keller, James Hodges, Drussel Bailey, James A. Keen, Jr.
