Amory- Oscar T. Poss, 85, died Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Oak Tree Plantation in Amory. Born July 22, 1927, in Chickasaw County, he was a son of the late Andrew Augustus “Gus” and Bobbie Lee Townsend Poss. He married Alvada Marie Francis on November 20, 1948.
He attended Okolona, Aberdeen and Wren schools. Mr. Poss honorably served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Panama with the Military Police. He worked for Dryden Manufacturing Company, Atlas Truck Body as plant manager, and later at Aircap Industries in R&D. He lived in Wren until moving to Amory in 2010. Mr. Poss was a member of Wren Baptist Church, and enjoyed bowling, working in his machine shop, and traveling.
He is survived by his son, Tony Poss of Amory; brother, Bro. Bobby Poss (Carol) of Phil Campbell, AL; sister Mary Fletcher Williams of Amory; nieces, Jennifer Duncan (Chris), Darnell Collums (Philip) and Maedean Allbrittion (Bud); nephew, Roy Armstrong; great nieces, Camille Collums, Gracie Duncan and Elisabeth Oliver; great nephews, Daniel Williams (Kelli), Skyler and Cade Oliver, Bud Allbrittion Jr., Jacob and Issac Duncan; great great nephews, Owen, Braden and Colton Williams.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a nephew, Larry Williams.
A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM, Monday, December 10, 2012 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Poss and Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Maxey Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Poss, Charles Pate, Daniel Williams, Philip Collums, Billy Nicholson, Bud Stevens, and Chris Duncan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tiger Adams, Harold Riley, Buddy Sullivan, Thomas Allen Rooker and Sank Owen.
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 9, from 5pm-8pm.
